I am deeply interested in the expressions of Nature, when I create jewellery and bring forth into metal the language of abstract forms. My work is a story, an interpretation — always an expression of Nature’s elements.
Adrienne Stanton is an artist who designs and creates limited edition and one of a kind jewellery. She has a fine arts background, including painting and sculpture. Her fascination with metal and structure led to studies in jewellery, where she earned diplomas in goldsmithing and gemmology.
Adrienne is a descendant of the Ngāi Tahu of Rakiura Stewart Island, the southern-most reaches of Aotearoa New Zealand. Her mother’s ancestors were involved with Pounamu, and jade carving forms an intrinsic part of Adrienne’s artistic development.
Making commissioned jewellery since 1996, Adrienne has produced a body of work that is distinctive and original. Her collections offer a diversity of forms expressing her contemplation of Nature, shaped through the alchemy of flame and metalsmithing with the authentic voice of her Canadian and Māori heritages.
